<p>From the creator of nodejs, Deno is the reincarnation of everything that <a title="Private" href="https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/hfyvYGJZQiUwQaaxQO27q.html" target="_blank" class="private">people.figure.ryan-dahl (Private)</a> wanted to do better the second time around.</p>
<h2 id="thoughts">Thoughts<a aria-hidden="true" class="anchor-heading icon-link" href="#thoughts"></a></h2>
<p>While not having used <a title="Private" href="https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/hfyvYGJZQiUwQaaxQO27q.html" target="_blank" class="private">lang.deno (Private)</a> in a real project, I'm generally supportive of trying to unify webby-js and regular-js. </p>
<p>Not a fan of the whole esm + cjs debacle and the (lack of) migration that is happening the js ecosystem but that is a different story altogether</p>
<p>Open source projects with managed hosting has become quite the popular recipe in the age of SaaS - vercel + next, gatsby + gatsby cloud + ghost + maaged ghost, etc</p>
<p>This is the first time (that I know of) where a programming language is backed by a VC with a (maybe) business <del>model</del> proposition. Will be monitoring to see how this develops</p>

## Welcome to my [Digital Garden](https://joelhooks.com/digital-garden) 🌱

I'm **Kevin**, founder of [Dendron](https://dendron.so/) ([YCW21](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29176158)) - an open-source, local-first, knowledge base for developers. Our goal is to help devs access and structure all the information they have ever come across using plain text, markdown, and version control. 


As a point of reference, I made Dendron because I wanted a better way of managing my own corpus of **30K+ notes**. Dendron is the result of a decade of experimenting with different tools and systems.

## Navigating the Garden

The advantage of a garden is that it is non-linear and can offer much more context than a linear blog. This is also its greatest downside as it can be hard to know where to begin.
